Retail Serrated Knives
Ceramic (20 cm x 20 cm)
2019
The work Retail Serrated Knives consists of six ceramic sculptures, modeled around the close up of a silhouette shape of different hunting knives that can be purchased at Walmart - the largest American retail chain. Here, the zoomed in profile of the weapons, which are designed for optimal destruction, are inverted so that the sharp edges can again be handled. This is done by enlarging and inverting the serrated knife edge of the blade into a pattern that can shape the clay allowing for a soft shape to emerge in the ceramic sculptures.
The work was exhibited as part of the solo-exhibition The Endless Summer at Huset i Hasserisgade in Aalborg, Denmark.
