The work Enjoying the Sunset is a collection of video clips from the private youtube channel of Elliot Roger - the mass shooter who targeted women in California.
The work depicts a series of video clips from the inside of his car that he uploaded prior to his death in 2014. The work seeks to look at the melancholy of the everyday by stripping the narrative from all other inputs, to only the road and the radio, looking at visuals that frame and inform this violence. Selected clips are in order of uploading date Enjoying the sunset in Santa Barbara, Stuck in traffic in Santa Barbara – made it a little fun, Driving through Montecito, Santa Barbara in the morning fog, Another sunny day in Santa Barbara, My morning drive to school, I’m Awesome, Driving to the beach, The most scenic road in Santa Barbara, and Dancing in the car. Roger was single handedly responsible for the 2014 Isla Vista Killings in and near the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
The work was exhibited as part of the solo-exhibition The Endless Summer at Huset i Hasserisgade in Aalborg, Denmark.
